Lemons are cultivated since 1000 years and originate most likely from India. With the Arabs they got in the 13th century to Europe. Nowadays lemons are grown any all subtropical countries, also in South America.
The evergreen lemon trees blossom and get fruits in warm and humid climates throughout the year. In order to allow an efficient harvest, the plants are stressed by not receiving water. This creates intensive blossoming and after this the fruits ripe.
The pulp of the lemon has the greatest storage of Vitamin C among other fruits. The dried peel contains very valuable essential oils. Lemon peels are often found in tea blends and fruit teas and give any tea composition a unique taste.
