Rose Hip

From the valleys of the Andes

As the name reveals, rose hip is a kind of wild rose, which originally comes from the south of Europe and the north of Africa. In South America the plant is domestic now since almost 200 years. It can be found in many different regions of the continent, but the optimal climate conditions exist especially in the valleys of the Andes. The outward appearance of the Rose Hip plant is similar to a bush and reaches a height of two to three meters. Inside the Rose Hip are many seeds, which account for about 70 percent of the weight.

Ideal tea fruit

The part that is mainly used for tea is the dried peel. It has many nutrients and can therefore make a vitamin-rich herbal tea, which does not only taste delicious, but also fosters health. Due to the high amount of plant acids, it acts slightly diuretic and is therefore a great support for the treatments of bladder trouble or kidney diseases. It is also said that Rose Hip can be very helpful to treat inflammable arthropathy. The dried peels are rich in Vitamin C, which makes it an ideal tea fruit for the flu. Finally it also contains antioxidants, which fight so called free radicals inside the body.
